I’ve found peace in solitude
fortitude in friendship
and union with my Creator.
I no longer need another;
But there’s something about you
beckoning at the walls
climbing the castle
I’ve kept so closely guarded;
sieging my soul, signaling my surrender
without even ascending the stairs.
Could you love me if you knew
all that I’ve been through?
Would you judge me for
the life I’ve left behind?
I’ve been guilty and filthy –
wayward and depraved;
you deserve more than
a dead demon decayed.
But, in this season of renewal
my eye sees a jewel
and seeks to seize a sea
of boundless unbending love;
Is it you?
I’ve patented patience
to my heart’s constitution,
in case my feelings are an illusion;
I’ve willingly walked in delusions
so I’ll await a sign
that these affections are divine
that love was meant to be
not a fictitious reality,
but a future to be realized.
