My love calls out
like a lighthouse, without a ship at sea;
yet I know it will be,
before I see.
I’ll cast visions,
creating chemistry
fission or fusion
purging confusion;
producing a love
greater than the sum of its parts.
Will you be as I’ve seen?
Laced in grace and intention,
eyes of luminous dimension
sparkling specks,
a guiding gaze lighting wise ways;
down to earth, divinely made.
I’ve come to see, how you’ll be;
full of patience,
not in a hurry
a heart unweighted by worry;
brimming with passion
and zeal for life,
confident and capable
of dealing with strife –
And me
I’m jaded, you see,
dark and damaged like a fallen star;
no matter who you are,
you’ll see my past as afar
forgiving my scars;
shelving my memoir
in a bookcase built
by mercy,
knowing how completely
my iniquities hurt me.
I’ve come to see what you’ll be;
not a ship at sea,
but a lighthouse of your own.
